七月。。。。。。鬼节。。。。。。

Yeap.... It's the start of the seventh month, Hungry Ghost festival!
Better to go home earlier, drive carefully as well as don't go swimming & moving into your new home(That is if you believe my grandmother words).
The chinese folklore state that this month, the seventh lunar month, is when the gates of hell is open and all the ghosts are able to come up to the human world. To entertain them, chinese will burn offerings as well as arrange for chinese wayang and ge tai for them to see. Often, business men will also arrange for dinners & auctions to raise funds for buying offerings & arranging the shows. Usually these offerings includes burning of hugh joss sticks that will burn for days. These are the more common sights at the older marketplaces and hawker centres.
More people will also be vegetarian during this month only. Well, chinese believe that eating vegetarian food will be good for our soul. So they probably think that being vegetarian for this month will help them avoid any 'unfortunate' sights this month. Actually I have no idea why they do that. Wahahaha.
Ah well, I just finish burning offerings to the 'chek pek'. More importantly, just finish praying for good health, safety & well.... just pray that there is no unfortunate events to my family :)
